Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases – LIVE UPDATE

COVID-19 is an officially declared global pandemic by World Health Organization. COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. There’s a state of emergency around the world, due to the spread of this Coronavirus. Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

In the UAE, there has been continuous testing and good initiatives and awareness from the authorities to control covid-19. There has been sterilization happening in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and all over the UAE. Police in the UAE has been spreading awareness to stay at home through drones and their patrol systems. The only preventive measures available for COVID-19 is social distancing. To adopt this measure simply stay at home. The more you go out and interact with others, the more you are putting yourselves and the surrounding people at risk. The virus is awaiting a carrier to jump onto. So if we keep ourselves at home, we break the chain. We cut off the link for virus to be transmitted. This is the only way to curb the spread. In high-risk countries such as China, Italy, United States and Iran where the virus has gone out of control, an extreme preventive measure such as lockdown and travel ban were taken. This has social and economical impacts. The roads get empty, schools, universities,  companies, Government offices, police Departments and all entertainment zones remain closed. Life comes to a standstill. However, the earlier such strict measures are implied the earlier we can stop the virus. India has set a good example by adopting preventive measures early on such as countrywide lockdown and curfew. Kerala has been a pioneer in controlling such highly contagious viruses by curbing the spread at the onset. Break the chain and other initiatives are followed setting an example to the world.

We can also protect ourselves with simple basic hygiene. Regular washing of hands with soap and water, sanitizing ourselves and our surroundings. This coronavirus is spread by respiratory droplets so never touch your face,  especially eyes nose or mouth without cleaning your hands first. Cover your mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing and don’t forget to consult a doctor if you are sick. Covid19 is riskier for the elderly and those with low immunity. So have healthy food, do regular exercise and do some activities which can boost your spirits. Stay home, stay safe.
